Changing the Way You See Things

The way we see the world is the way we experience the world. When you’re feeling stuck, when you’re disappointed or frustrated, zoom out and see what else comes into your frame of reference. Changing the way you see changes the way you feel and act. – Elena Aguilar, Chapter 8 of Onward

From this chapter, we know that our perspective of things lies within our sphere of influence because perspective lies within our mind and you can influence your mind. And we know that a wider perspective will also help boost our resilience. So when something bad happens, ask yourself, is there any good emerging from this? Can I find any joy in the struggle? Our resilience is cultivated when we can see the good in the bad, when we can see things from others’ point of view, when we can see things within a bigger context.

Wayne Dyer shares his take on perspective in this video where he discusses the idea that when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. This goes beyond a clever play on words. This challenges us to look at our perspective on life.
