Affirmations Help Craft New Stories

As we work towards cultivating our resilience by telling more empowering stories, there are some easy daily activities that you can do that can make such a difference. Yesterday we shared this post about intention setting. Today we are talking about crafting new narratives through affirmations.

Watch this dad and daughter going through their daily affirmations (absolutely adorable, right?), and then create some of your own. Since you are only saying them to yourself, they need to be short, positive, and feel good when you say them. They will have more of an impact if you create your own, but here are some to get you started:

  • I am powerful.
  • I am valuable, and I belong.
  • I am enough. I do enough.
  • Everyday, I am a better teacher.

And if you need more convincing to try using affirmations, there is science behind this as explained in Onward: Saying affirmations to yourself raises your levels of feel-good hormones and pushes your brain to form new clusters of “positive thought” neurons. This is basic rewiring for your mind. It’s simple, easy, and powerful.
