This time a year is usually when a lot of graduation speech videos are shared on social media. When watching I am always filled with so much hope as I think of the new graduates stepping out in the world to leave their imprint on the world and make a difference. I was drawn to this video of Dean James Ryan’s (Harvard Graduate School of Education) for the simplicity of the message and how he promises that if you can answer these 5 essential questions you will be successful and happy in life. Chapter 9 of Onward is about the habit of being a learner and focuses on the disposition of curiosity. The 5 questions shared in Ryan’s speech will help strengthen this habit and disposition. So ask yourself Wait, what? I wonder? Couldn’t we at least? How can I help? What truly matters? And watch how your life unfolds.
