Happy New Year!
Welcome to another month of working with Onward! This month as we move into Chapter 8, we explore the habit of cultivating compassion, the disposition of perspective and take a dive into envy.
Here at Onward, we are offering a monthly mantra that will go with the habit and disposition for the month. January and the start of a new year is the perfect time to strengthen your compassion for yourself and others, and unlock another resource for resilience. Elena shares in the opening of Chapter 8: “Compassion for ourselves, as well as for others, helps us deal with the interpersonal challenges we face on a daily basis. Perspective allows us to recognize the complexity of the situation. Perspective allows us to empathize with others, see the long view, extricate ourselves from the drama of a moment, and identify wider range of responses to an event.”
So we offer you this mantra for January that focuses on the self-compassion element since compassion for others must begin with compassion for ourselves: May I be kind to myself in this moment. May I give myself the compassion that I need. Allow this mantra to be empowering as you work on cultivating compassion. Hopefully you were following us last month and played around with the mantra we offered. If mantras are new to you, explore the uses and benefits here.
Have fun exploring the many uses of mantras as you build compassion for yourself and others while recognizing the role that perspective plays. Share your stories in the comments to help build our community here.
