The Monthly Mantra for September

Welcome to another month of working with Onward! This month as we move into Chapter 4, we explore the habit of building community, the disposition of empathy and take a dive into fear.

Here at Onward, we are offering a monthly mantra that will go with the habit and disposition for the month. In September, those of us in education find ourselves surrounded by new people, so building strong relationships must be our primary goal. The community we build is foundational for our resilience. Elena shares in the opening of Chapter 4: “We are social beings, and we need each other to thrive. A strong, healthy community can bolster us through challenging moments and bring joy to our lives. When we build community, we can build our empathy for each other; and building empathy for each other helps us build community.”

So we offer you this mantra for September: I surround myself with with loving people. I can choose the people I allow into my life. I choose to surround myself with people who make me better. Allow this mantra to be a calming force as you interpret and make sense of what is happening around you. Hopefully you were following us last month and played around with the mantra we offered. If mantras are new to you, explore the uses and benefits here.

Have fun exploring the many uses of mantras as you build a strong community around you. Share your stories in the comments to help build our community here.
