Disposition: Curiosity…What’s Our Role in Cultivating It in Others

In this clip from an interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson, scientist Jane Goodall shares about how curiosity led to her career in science. She describes an interaction she had as a 4 year old in which her mother helped cultivate her curiosity. I just love how she describes her mother in this clip. As a parent, this is such a great reminder, and as a teacher, such an inspiration.

Chapter 9 in Onward looks at the habit of being a learner and the disposition of curiosity. Jane Goodall’s work over her career exemplifies these so well. What role has curiosity played in your life decisions? How can you be more like Jane Goodall’s mom and encourage this disposition in others?
