Much of our work here at the Onward website, is around showing how universal this resilience work is. Elena Aguilar wrote Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators for those in education obviously, so we have used this platform (our website) to share resources for a larger audience or even for those in education who are making connections with their lives outside of education. Today’s post however is geared specifically to teachers.
The habit that we are focusing on this month is celebrate and appreciate, and we would be remiss if we didn’t talk about the power this has directly in the classroom as well. In 2012, Elena published this article on Edutopia, where she frequently blogs, and it is the most widely read and it still resonates with readers. The Power of a Positive Phone Call Home shares some practical sentence frames to use during the phone call home and she also shares the effect it had on her class.
