With February’s focus on being a learner here at Onward, this seems like a good opportunity for me to share the learning I have done and continue to do around my racial identity. As I do with each of my posts, my intention here is to share resources that I have found helpful in my work of cultivating resilience. Here are a few that I would like to highlight and share:
- Laura Brewer’s course How to Hold Your Whiteness Responsibly. This opened a lot for on how I understand white conditioning and white supremacy. I highly recommend you look into it if you are to start exploring your whiteness.
- I am also currently listening to the podcast Scene on Radio’s series on Seeing White. This is a 14 part series and each episode is around 40 minutes.
- I also just found this blog by Heather Plett: Resources for good people who want to do better. I am beginning to work my way through many of these.
- I see Twitter as an amazing learning space. As a former English teacher, I have learned so much from the #DisruptTexts movement.
More to come.
