There is so much information out there about taking care of yourself. A quick google search turned up “the 5 best ways” or “the top 25 ways.” When I stumbled upon the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s (NAMI) article titled Taking Care of Yourself though, I wanted to share it for its clear and simplistic approach that supports Chapter 6 in Onward: Take Care of Yourself.
NAMI suggests the following:
- Understand how stress affects you.
- Protect your physical health.
- Recharge yourself.
- Practice good mental habits.
I was especially drawn to #4: Practice good mental health habits since it connects all that we are working on here at Onward. And it’s simple: avoid guilt, notice the positive, gather strength from others. What are your best strategies for practicing good mental habits?
