Welcome to another month of working with Onward! This month as we move into Chapter 5, we explore the habit of be here now, the disposition of humor and take a dive into joy.
Here at Onward, we are offering a monthly mantra that will go with the habit and disposition for the month. In October as we move into fall, those of us in education find our energy waning and we are triggered more easily. Learning to be in the present moment enables us to cultivate awareness of our emotions and make choices that foster our resilience. Elena shares in the opening of Chapter 5: “Learning to be in the present moment, without judging it, boosts our resilience. It can allow us to feel accepting and clearheaded about our options for response. When we’re fully present, we’re more likely to find appropriate levity to moments of challenge and to relieve stress by finding humor in a situation.”
So we offer you this mantra for October: Be. Here. Now. I am grounded, centered, and present. Allow this mantra to be a calming force as you interpret and make sense of what is happening around you. Hopefully you were following us last month and played around with the mantra we offered. If mantras are new to you, explore the uses and benefits here.
Have fun exploring the many uses of mantras as you practice mindfulness and meditation this month. Share your stories in the comments to help build our community here.
